We just got back from 2 weeks in Hawaii. It was incredible. So much natural beauty! If you are ever headed out that way - here are a few of our favorite things that can be found on Oahu.
1. Diamondhead Market & Grill
3575 Campbell Avenue Honolulu, HI
We walked the mile from our hotel to this place because of the great reviews we had heard. It totally lived up to the hype. Its a great local stop with tons of aloha and very few tourists. It serves local meat dishes with rice - get the surf & turf your first time for a sampling of their very best.
2. Hawaii State Archives
‘Iolani Palace Grounds
364 S. King Street Honolulu
Located in a lovely section of downtown Honolulu under massive banyan trees, the State Archives are a great place for serious research or just an afternoon picnic.
3. Beach Park Camping:
My favorite night of our trip was beach camping at the Malaekahana State Park. It may have been a little windy and sandy, but nothing beats watching the sunrise with your favorite person. Its also cheap and convenient and most parks have tidy facilities nearby.
While Waikiki may be the more crowded area of Oahu, it sure is a great pace to find everything. There's upscale shopping and dining as well as cheap touristy shops. You can get surf lessons or spend a day lounging on a beach chair. Whatever your fancy - Waikiki has something for you.
